Thanksgiving is a day away and for most of us, this holiday brings about images of turkey, pumpkin pie, family and football. It’s the official start of the holiday season and the biggest shopping weekend of the year. Above all, this day is more than food, football and shopping.

It is a day to be grateful for what we value in our lives – our health and our families. My parents always taught us to maintain an attitude of gratitude throughout the year and it will unlock great things for you. After all, attitude is everything!

Next year is the year to make a commitment to focus on the things you want most and see it through to completion to create the greatest year of your life. Instead of waiting for the New Year to make your resolutions – start now – because now is the opportunity to grow with a vision of success.

Robert Collier said it best, "Vision. It reaches beyond the thing that is, into the conception of what can be. Imagination gives you the picture. Vision gives you the impulse to make the picture your own."

Remember that in the midst of all the activity of the holiday season, Thanksgiving really is a time for us to reflect on what we’re grateful for – in life, about others and especially about ourselves. This time of year brings out life’s important mile markers and the reasons why we are grateful, no matter how big or small they may be.

Take some time on Thanksgiving to focus on what you’re thankful for, the many blessings in your life and the things you appreciate most.

Also, be thankful to the men and women who serve this country and protect our freedom. As you gather around the table for Thanksgiving dinner, think for a moment what it would be like to have some of your family members serving overseas. Say a special prayer for them and thank them for their sacrifice!
